SHEQ Management
SHEQ is an acronym for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality. This acronym is most commonly used regarding workplace SHEQ management.
A SHEQ manager is the individual in charge of occupational health and safety, environment and quality assurance. This person supervises and coordinates ISO systems to ensure that the organization meets the highest quality standards and that the working conditions are favorable and safe.
SHEQ applies several disciplines for continuous improvement of Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001), Environmental (ISO 14001) and Quality (ISO 9001) factors that impact your organization. This is accomplished by developing processes that move programs through a structured cycle. ISO uses a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle. Today, with the newly structured published ISO standards, it is easier to implement more than one standard together, and therefore more organizations are looking for ways to integrate management systems in a uniformed way.
Advantages of SHEQ
Combining SHEQ creates a role that is compliance based, and SHEQ managers can be called upon to support and respond to all ISO based issues. Additionally, these individual roles may not amount to a full-time commitment, yet combining them can reduce consultancy costs and add a valuable player to your organization.
Remember that when looking for a SHEQ manager, you need to hire an adaptable and competent team member who understands not only ISO but regulatory requirements.
